Creative Arts Day 2018 has been CANCELLED. This includes the volunteer and special member recognition program.
We ask that you reach out to anyone who may have been planning to attend to notify them of the cancellations.
Laura and Chris carefully monitored National Weather Service and local TV station reports and forecasts as this storm moved into the area. A number of factors were considered but the unpredictability of the types of precipitation and the safety of everyone are leading factors that were considered.
The cancellation is consistent with the current Wood County Weather Cancellation policy which includes the following criteria be considered in cancelling events.
“Wood County 4-H Programs (county, club and groups) are automatically canceled if any of the following occur:
- Wood County or the location where the event is scheduled to occur is under a Winter Storm, Wind Chill, Tornado, Blizzard or Severe Thunderstorm Warning(s) as issued by the National Weather Service.
- Travel is not advised due to snow, wind or ice storms
- Schools are closed for the day or closing early
- There are any doubts as to what the weather will do during the event”
This cancellation was not taken lightly as our 4-H Members and Volunteers have put in countless hours preparing for Creative Arts Day. Teamwork, confidence, leadership, and communication are just a few of the life skills that our members have been developing.
While it may not be possible to reschedule Creative Arts Day as a whole, Laura and Chris will team with volunteers and older youth to plan alternate event(s) that will provide a similar educational experience for our youth allowing them to showcase their hard work and continue developing life skills. If you would like to volunteer to be part of that planning team, please email your contact information to email@example.com no later than Tuesday April 17, 2018 as we will need to work quickly to make plans.
